The Free State and Northern Cape (FS & NC) is a non-profit  
  governing body of competitive Equestrian Sport in the Regions of  
  Free State, Northern Cape and part of the North West. It covers  
  competitive participation for the disciplines of Dressage, Equitation,  
  Eventing, Showing, Show Jumping and Vaulting.  
     
     
 

The FS & NC falls under the South African National Equestrian

 
 

Federation (SANEF), which formulates the rule and codes of

 
 

 practice for competitors and officials.  SANEF, in turn,  falls under

 
 

the Federation EquestreInternational (FEI), which governs the sport

 
 

internationally.

 
     
     
 

The Society is run by and elected Management Committee and each

 
 

discipline is represented in this committee by an  elected Discipline

 
 

Chairman. All Committee members and officials are volunteers who

 
 

work freely for the benefit of the sport. The FS & NC in turn is divided

 
 

into 6 Regions namely Kimberley, Klerksdorp, Kathu, Bloemfontein,

 
 

Welkom and Potchefstroom. Each region has it's own regional

 
 

committee with their own discipline representatives and has an equal

 
 

vote on the Management Committee.

 
     
     
 

Equestrian sport is one of the few where men and women compete

 
 

on equal footing without any discrimination, and competitors are

 
 

divided into three categories - Children, Juniors and Adults.

 
 

Competitions are run to cater for all levels form the less experienced

 
 

to international standard.  Shows are held throughout the year in the

 
 

various FS regions, and are run by trained judges and officials.

 
     
     
 

                  

 
 

in all communities, by providing assistance to improve and maintain

 
 

standards in all disciplines, and to encourage riders at all levels  to
